Repair of the Earth
At All Souls we believe that we are called to be active in the repair of the earth. Over the years we’ve learned from leaders like Joanna Macy, David Hochschild, Bishop Marc Andrus, and the Rev. Ambrose Carroll. Sometimes our work is as simple as removing trash from our nearby creeks and beaches. Other times it has meant changing our practices and our facilities. Carbon neutrality has been a goal since installing a solar array in 2015, and completing this shift is one of the pillars of our recent capital campaign. Often this practice of repair has meant that we join forces with other groups, walking alongside the Interfaith Coalition of Alameda County in the No Coal in Oakland campaign, and with California Interfaith Power and Light in advocating for just legislation for all of creation.
